Zoe Lister Jones is an American actress, musician, playwright and screenwriter. She first came to artistic prominence through her one-woman, ten-character show entitled Co-Dependence is a Four Letter Word. Apparently, her English skills aren’t that good (She’s eight letter off on her count of how many letters make up "Co-Dependence"…Oops! Awkward for you, Zoe). However, it seems there’s nothing in the liberal arts universe that she can’t do. Her skills with pottery and basket weaving haven’t gained national attention yet, but perhaps that’s next on her agenda.
Zoe Lister Jones was born in Brooklyn, New York. Her mother is the Canadian video artist Ardele Lister, and her father is the American photographer and media artist Bill Jones. She attended the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University and graduated with honors. From there, she studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London.
Zoe began to make a mark in New York performing with the rock band Maxi Geil at venues such as Joe's Pub, Luxx, and Galapagos. Her debut solo CD is entitled Skip the Kiss. At the same time, she wrote and was performing in the one-woman, ten-character show Co-dependence is a Four Letter Word. These two pursuits got her noticed, and opened up acting jobs to her. Zoe landed theater parts in The Little Dog Laughed and The Accomplices. She landed movie parts in quirky independent films such as Palladio (2005), New Boobs (2006), and Arranged (2007). On television she has appeared in Law & Order, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and Law & Order: Trial by Jury. This blitz on all areas through her connections to the uppercrust New York art circle makes her akin to a female Vincent Gallo. Hopefully she can fare a little better than he has (Brown Bunny, anyone?).
Zoe’s career continues its red hot streak this upcoming year with two films slated for release: The Marconi Bros. and Day Zero. Her first screenplay, Dolly, is also in pre-production. Zoe was recently seen in the strike lines for the WGA strike. However, she clarified to a reporter that she’s not supporting the guild, she’s simply trying to make connections. This is a girl who understands show business!
