Introduction

Virginie Ledoyen (born Virginie Fernandez on November 15, 1976 in Aubervilliers) is a French actress.

Life Story

She was a print model from the age of 2 and later took on the stage name "Ledoyen" after the maiden name of her maternal grandmother, who had been a stage actress. Her breakthrough came with La Fille seule (1995) for which she was nominated for a César Award (France's version of the Oscar). Outside of France, her best-known role is alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in The Beach (2000), which was not, and will never be nominated for an award, American, French or otherwise.

In the fall of 2000, she signed a contract with L'Oréal, as a spokesmodel with the cosmetics company. She was featured alongside two French supermodels Laetitia Casta and Noémie Lenoir. The television campaign had to be pulled, however, due to the complaints of many women feeling inadequate, then enraged, and then smashing their television sets with stale baguettes.

On September 29, 2007 she gave birth to her first child, a girl named Lilas (meaning "Lilac" in French). As of September 20, 2007 she is married to small time film director Iain Rogers. Sounds like a shotgun wedding to me, or, as they say in France, "Une mariage de shotgun."

Stuff she’s done, ie: movies, tv, albums:

The Beach, 8 Femmes, Je vais te manquer

Dudes she has worked with:

Leonardo DiCaprio, Marcello Mastroianni
