Introduction
Tina Marie Majorino (born February 7, 1985) is an American film and television actress. She is most well known for playing Deb in Napoleon Dynamite, she is also known for her work in the television series "Veronica Mars" and "Big Love", among other roles. Still, it will be hard to shake the pop culture sensation that was and is and forever shall be... Napoleon Dynamite.
Life Story
Majorino, an Italian American, was born in Westlake, California to Robert Majorino and Sarah Black; she has an older brother, Kevin. Although Majorino's full legal name is Tina Marie Majorino, her given names are widely quoted as Albertina Marie. According to a member of her band The AM Project, the letters AM in the band's name are her initials. Yeah, whatever. We heard from our friend on myspace who heard from her friend on facebook that it's totally not true.
Majorino began her acting career in a 1992 sitcom called Camp Wilder. Her first film role was 1994's When a Man Loves a Woman, in which she co-starred with adorable lady-next-door Meg Ryan.
She subsequently starred in the leading roles of the family films Corrina, Corrina and Andre, both of which were released in August 1994. Andre, the story of a trained circus seal, failed to reach the same independent film audience as Corrina,, but did remind us, as posters promised, that "the greatest adventure if finding your way home." If that's not the most platitudinous movie tagline ever, then we don't know what is.
Her next film was the 1995 action film Waterworld, playing "the only good thing about the movie." Most of her roles throughout the late 1990s were in independent films or made-for-television productions; she played the title role in the 1999 television film, Alice in Wonderland.
AfterAlice, Majorino took time off from the business. She did not appear in another film until 2004, when she starred opposite Jon Heder in the movie Napoleon Dynamite. From 2004 onward, she played a recurring role on UPN's series, "Veronica Mars", as the computer-savvy Cindy “Mac” Mackenzie. Show creator Rob Thomas created the role with her in mind. Majorino had met Thomas while interviewing him for a report on one of his books. Majorino became a series regular in the third season, prior to the series' cancellation. At present, she has a recurring role on the cable television series "Big Love", but has yet to do it with Bill Paxton.
Majorino has appeared in the music video for "Blind" by rock group Lifehouse. We like to refer to this as "her second Waterworld"
