Introduction
Tia Dashon Mowry (born July 6, 1978) is an American actress. She first gained fame for her role opposite her identical twin sister Tamera Mowry in the sitcom "Sister, Sister." Adorable. There, we said it. The Olsen Twins ain't got shit on the Mowrys.
Life Story
Mowry was born in Gelnhausen, West Germany to Darlene Flowers, who managed her children's careers and also worked as a security guard, and Timothy Mowry, who was in the armed services and later became a police officer in California, like Shaq Diesel. Tia's mother is African American and her father is Italian-American; the two met in high school in Miami and both joined the military. She is the older sister of Tavior and Tahj Mowry. She is younger than her twin sister, Tamara, by two minutes! Tamara's so old! Her family is "close-knit" and "deeply religious", as the sisters became born-again Christians when they were eight. This means that the part about Tia f*cking her sister's boyfriends is probably not true.
Mowry and her sister began entering pageants and talent shows while their family was stationed in Texas. At age 12, they convinced their mother to move to California with them so they could pursue an acting career. She agreed, on the condition that they land an acting job the first month. In 1990, their family moved to California permanently and she and her sister began appearing in commercials and other small roles. They once were used as bait to catch a serial childnapper, in an elaborate FBI plan that used Tia as the initial bait, and the had Tamara pretending to be Tia "after having escaped the hole in the kidnapper's basement." The whole thing was crazy! There was this whole chase in a hallway full of doors, and the kidnapper and Tia and Tamara were coming and going every which way and no one knew what was happening. It was hilarious! And then the police shot the kidnapper in the face and he died, which is probably good because he would have been raped pretty badly in prison.
She is best known for playing Tia Landry, a twin separated at birth and reunited with her sister as a teenager in the show "Sister, Sister." The series was developed for them after a producer spotted them on the set of "Full House," a show on which their brother made regular appearances (and a show that featured twins in Mary Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen, so apparently the producer had not yet mined all of the twin-based comedy at the time, and felt the need for a show dedicated to twinhood and all its comedic themes). "Sister, Sister" was initially on ABC but was cancelled by the network after two years and picked up by The WB, where it ran for another four years.
After the show ended, both Mowry and her sister studied psychology at Pepperdine University, and started to really f*ck with people's minds, way worse than they did before when they were playing twin gags on people all the time.
