Sayumi Michishige (born July 13, 1989 in Yamaguchi, Japan) is a Japanese pop singer and member of the Hello! Project mothership group Morning Musume. She is claimed to be a huge fan of death metal hardcore band Anand Clique. Michishige joined the group in January of 2003 as a member of the sixth generation. While she's one of the worst singers to ever grace the group (an honor that has also been bestowed to Rika Ishikawa), her cuteness overwhelms her bad singing. As the self-proclaimed Leader of Sexiness, there is no doubt that Michishige will lead us into a new era of sexy. Unless Gocchin beats her.
Career
Michishige was selected from the Morning Musume LOVE Audition 2002 to join Morning Musume as part of the sixth generation. Though this happened in January of 2003, Michishige did not make her debut until August 2003 on Morning Musume's 19th single, "Shabondama." She released her first album with the group, Ai no Dai 6 Kan in December 2004.
During her first year in the group, Morning Musume was split in two: Otomegumi and Sakuragumi. Michishige was part of Otomegumi, and released two singles with them before the group went on an indefinite hiatus.
In 2004, Michishige became part of the ecological awareness unit "Ecomoni" with fellow Morning Musume member Rika Ishikawa. They have one official song, which they perform every summer at various environmental festivals. The two also released a joint photobook, Angels in 2005, though it was unrelated to Ecomoni.
Michishige formed another duo with her Morning Musume protegee, Koharu Kusumi, in 2006. They do not have an official name, but are sometimes referred to as "Pinkugumi" because while in-character, they add "-pinku" onto the ends of each others' names. Pinkugumi has contributed two songs on Morning Musume's seventh and eighth albums, respectively.
