Birthname:
Ruru Honda (supposedly)
Hometown:
Shenyang, Liáoníng, China
Ruru Honda is another Hello! Project mystery. The name Ruru was given to her by Tsunku, who proved that he knew next to nothing about Chinese-to-Japanese transliteration (re: Junjun and Linlin). "RuRu" is her claimed stage name, with "Honda Ruru" being her legal Japanese name. Her name before Tsunku entered the equation is unknown.
Part of the infamous H!P group T&C Bomber (which was as sexy as it was unsuccessful, which is to say, very), Ruru left the collective in 2000 before hooking up with the label avex trax, which is responsible for the likes of Ayumi Hamasaki and Namie Amuro. Only unlike those two ladies, Ruru never hit it big. She did shoot a great photobook, though. Her first solo album, "Soshin", was released in 2007. It didn't exactly make a splash, but hey, she covered Hirai Ken. That's gotta count for something.
