Penelope Ann Miller has shared the screen with some of the most notable and renowned leading men in Hollywood. This distinguished list includes Al Pacino and Sean Penn in Carlito's Way (1993) for which she received a Golden Globe nomination; Marlon Brando and Matthew Broderick in The Freshman (1990); Robert De Niro and Robin Williams in Awakenings (1990); Danny DeVito and Gregory Peck in Other People's Money (1991) and Arnold Schwarzenegger in Kindergarten Cop (1990), among many others.
Miller left her native Los Angeles when she was 18 and moved to New York, where she studied acting at HB Studios under Herbert Berghof. Two years later, Miller got her big break on Broadway when she originated the role of "Daisy Hanningan" in Neil Simon's Tony Award-winning play "Biloxi Blues" opposite Matthew Broderick. Later, she would reprise her role along with Broderick in Universal's film version, directed by Mike Nichols.
Miller was named "Star of Tomorrow" by the Motion Picture Bookers Club and "Most Promising Actress" by the Chicago Film Critics Association. She received a special jury award for Best Performance at the Hollywood Film Festival for her role in the independent feature Rhapsody in Bloom (1998) (TV), and a Tony Award nomination for her portrayal of "Emily" in Broadway's Tony-winning revival of "Our Town".
In 2007, Penelope starred in the Sony Pictures box office hit _Messengers, The (2000), produced by Sam Raimi, which opened #1 in the country. Penelope stars opposite Kristen Stewart, John Corbett and 'Dylan McDermott'. Most recently, she completed "FreeStyle" (2005), where she plays the mother of Corbin Bleu (High School Musical (2006) (TV)) and Madison Pettis (The Game Plan (2007)), and Saving Grace (2000) opposite Michael Biehn and 'Tatum O'Neal'. Miller's television credits include Rocky Marciano (1999) (TV) opposite Jon Favreau and George C. Scott, "The Last Don" (1997) (mini) opposite Joe Mantegna, The Mary Kay Letourneau Story (2000) (TV) for which she won critical review, and Rudy: The Rudy Giuliani Story (2003) (TV) opposite James Woods.
