Life Story
Nicole Ari Parker Kodjoe, also known as Nikki Kodjoe (born Nicole Ari Parker on October 7, 1970 in Baltimore, Maryland) is an American actress, who was briefly a model. And oh, what a looker she is. She is an only child. She spent hours play-acting in her Baltimore home and as a child wanted she wanted to be like the sexy, sassy Willona from the sitcom "Good Times". Well, she achieved that...above and beyond. At the age of 17, she won best actress in the state of Maryland's high school competition and decided that it was time to follow her dreams, even though there was only 2 other actresses in the competition. After a string of odd jobs and working for pennies (don't ask), Nicole's instincts paid off when she was offered the breakthrough role on the TV series "Soul Food".
Thus, Nicole is best known for playing the tough but compassionate attorney Teri Joseph in "Soul Food". She has appeared in numerous independent films, as well as several guest spots on popular television dramas. She eloped with actor Joseph Falasca in March 2001, but their marriage lasted only eight months, five months longer than most Hollywood marriages. Undeterred on the love front, she married her "Soul Food" co-star Boris Kodjoe on May 21, 2005 in Gundelfingen, Germany. Why Germany, she was asked. She chalked it up to Schnapps and some German beer. She gave birth to their first child, a girl, Sophie Tei-Naaki Lee Kodjoe (the pronouncement is as good as ours), on March 5, 2005. It is impossible the child will grow up ugly. She gave birth to the couple's second child, Nicolas Neruda Kodjoe, a boy, on October 31, 2006 in Atlanta, Georgia, which is nothing like Germany.
Nicole and Boris reside in Atlanta, GA. Good God, why? She also has legally changed her name from Nicole Ari Parker to Nicole Kodjoe since her marriage to Boris. So sweet.
