Life Story
Mira Sorvino was born and Raised in Tenafly, NJ, and from a young age showed talent. Sorvino and actress Hope Davis used to write and perform their own plays in their back yards. After graduating high school, Sorvino attended Harvard University. While at the 'Vard, as it's called on the streets, Sorvino co-founded the Harvard-Radcliffe Veritones which is one of the schools best a-capella singing groups. Sorvino graduated from Harvard at the top of her class with a degree in East Asian Studies, a degree she'd need when performing in the martial arts film The Replacement Killers.
Following college, Sorvino worked in New York City in various jobs in the film industry before finally getting a lead role in 1993's Amongst Friends. Two years later, after some small roles, Sorvino won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role as a foul mouthed prostitute in the Woody Allen flick Mighty Aphrodite. Following Mighty Aphrodite, she appeared in girly movies like Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion (which we only watched because our girlfriend made us) and At First Sight (which we have to admit was good, but our girlfriend still made us watch it). Recent movies she's done include more low-budget and indie flicks, such as Wise Girls and Human Trafficking.
For a while in the 1990's, Sorvino dated Quenten Tarantino but eventually they broke up. In 2004, Sorvino "robbed the cradle" and married a dude 14 years younger than her. Since then, they've had two children together.
