Introduction
Kate Walsh is a Bay Area actress who is best known for her role as Addison Montgomery-Shepherd on the show Grey’s Anatomy (also starring Katherine Heigl and Ellen Pompeo). She also appears in a spin off of the show called Private Practice.
Life Story
Kate’s first major television appearance was in 1997 when she was cast a Drew Carey’s girlfriend on the Drew Carey Show (also starring Christa Miller). Kate’s character was an obese woman so Kate had to wear a fat suit while she was on the show. In comparison, Drew looked a lot thinner, leaving one to wonder if he was just too vain to have a skinny girlfriend.
Since Kate proved she could convincingly play a loser’s girlfriend she was next cast as Norm MacDonald’s love interest on The Norm Show. She also played a transsexual on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. It’s difficult to determine which role was more disgusting.
In 2005 she was cast in the ABC mega hit Grey’s Anatomy. She was supposed to be only on the show for a few episodes but the audience loved her so she was kept on as a main character. In fact her character was so popular she was given her own show called Private Practice.
Kate is currently married to Alex Young, the production co-president at 20th Century Fox, which means her spin off is probably going to stay put for a long time.
