Life Story
Born in Chicago, Illinois, to a middle-class Irish American Catholic family, she has three sisters and a cousin, Melissa McCarthy, who was on the Gilmore Girls. She was the MVP of her high school softball and field hockey teams. While studying to be a nurse she realized that nurses are only super hot in the movies and she was far too hot to be a real life nurse who might actually have to wipe an old person’s ass.
She was playboy playmate of the month in October of 1993 and then Playmate of the Year in 1994. She moved to Los Angeles and became the host of “MTV’s Singled Out” (Carmen Electra). She had her own sketch comedy show on MTV and her own failed sitcom on NBC. Some of her film credits include BASEketball (Yasmine Bleeth), Scary Movie 3 (Pamela Anderson, Anna Faris) and John Tucker Must Die (Brittany Snow, Ashanti, Sophia Bush, Arielle Kebbel).
She became a mother in 2002 and published a series of books about motherhood.
Autism Awareness
In 2007 she revealed that her son is autistic and has since been an outspoken advocate for curing the disease. Her book Louder than Words: A Mother's Journey in Healing Autism details some of her experiences.
