Elisabeth Moss is best known for playing the President’s daughter for six seasons on the hit TV series, The West Wing. She’s had other notable roles, including appearing alongside Angelina Jolie and Winona Ryder in Girl, Interrupted (1999). Currently, she can be seen in the critically acclaimed AMC TV series, Mad Men, or in a Crate and Barrel buying cookware. (Seriously Elisabeth, can you get a slightly more sexy hobby, please?)
Elisabeth’s career in entertainment began early. When she was five years old, Elisabeth began to study ballet in Los Angeles. She got very serious about dance, and continued her studies at the School of American Ballet in New York, and then subsequently with Susan Farrell at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
Elisabeth transitioned to acting, and had her first screen performance came in 1990 when she starred in a TV movie called Bar Girls. The title sounds extremely promising, too bad it’s a TV movie and not directed by Paul Verhoeven. She then landed a slew of other roles over the next 13 years, including her spot in Girl, Interrupted (1999) and The Missing (2003), before her real breakout occurred in Virgin (2003). Virgin garnered Elisabeth a nomination for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Actress in 2004. Following on the heels of this success, she landed her spot on The West Wing, and starred there from 2004-2006.
Elisabeth currently can be seen in Mad Men, on AMC, and has three feature films slated for release in 2008. While her career appears to be white hot at the moment, it seems she’s taken one misstep. Elisabeth can be seen starring opposite Jennifer Love Hewitt in an episode of Ghost Whisperer in 2007. While this show has been critically panned, J Love does bring to it certain assets (two of them, to be precise).
