Biography

Introduction:

Hugh Jackman was born in Sydney, Australia in 1968 by English parents. The 39 year old star holds a degree on journalism, he plays the piano, the guitar and the violin and is a graduate of the prestigious WAAPA (Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts). A talented actor, singer and dancer, Jackman starred in several successfull musicals including Beauty & The Beast and Sunset Boulevard in Melbourne, Oklahoma! for the Royal National Theatre in London's West End under direction of Trevor Nunn and The Boy From Oz in Broadway, for which he earned a Tony Award in 2004. Furthermore, he has been awarded with an Emmy trophy (2005) and has been nominated for a Golden Globe (2001), an Emmy (2006) and an Olivier Award (1999). In Hollywood he became famous due to his role of Wolverine, the main superhero character in the acclaimed X-Men franchise. Next, he is to be seen in Baz Luhrmann's highly anticipated epic Australia, co-starring Nicole Kidman (14 November 2008) and in Wolverine's solo-film X-Men Origins: Wolverine (1 May 2009). Jackman is married to australian actress and director Deborra-Lee Furness since 1996 and the two have two adopted children, Oscar Maximilian (8 years old) and Ava Elliot (3 years old). The star also owns a producing company named Seed Productions.
