Life Story
Courteney Cox Arquette was just another Hollywood actress until her big break on the show Friends with Jennifer Aniston, and Lisa Kudrow. Before landing the role of uptight compulsive, but hot, Monica Gellar on Friends, Arquette had already appeared in several TV shows including the cult hit Misfits of Science and as Michael J. Fox's girlfriend on Family Ties. Before her grown-up roles, Arquette was probably best known as the dancing girl in Bruce Springsteen's 1984 video for the song "Dancing in the Dark", for which she was paid $350.
In 1994, the same year Friends started, Arqutte played Jim Carey's love interest in the surprise blockbuster Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. Two years later, Arqutte proved to be the first Friends star to break-out of the sit-com world by appearing in Scream with Rose McGowan and Neve Campbell. On the set of Scream, she met her future husband, and all-around weirdo, David Arqutte. The two became an unlikely pair, but the relationship seems to work as the couple has been happily married for eight years.
After the success of Friends, Arquette took a brief break from acting, despite being offered the role that eventually went to Teri Hatcher for the show Desperate Houswives. With her husband, she has since created her own production company "Coquette" and has starred on the FX drama Dirt, playing a tabloid reporter. Her next film will be The Big Change in 2009.
