Connie Werner Reichert has been winning writing awards ever since she could hold a pencil. In 5th grade, she tutored children two grade levels higher, and was ridiculed as “Teacher’s Pet.” In the mid 80’s, this “Teachers Pet” graduated from High School and its Regional Occupational Program for Sales, Advertising & Marketing with honors.

Right before registering for college, Connie co-produced The Concert Connection, with ML Media Cable TV in Fairfield. She was a TV show host that featured live bands on her segment where she would interview the band members about their albums, gigs and their hopes and dreams. This preceded her earlier stint as a spokesmodel for the cable television show “Deals on Wheels.” In her spare time, she worked as an Associate Editor for a bi-monhtly Solano County-wide newspaper, The Solano Express, for two years. At night, she was a telephone operator for a small answering service.

After the show’s hiatus, that’s when Connie went on to pursue Television Production and Film Studies at Solano Community College. She appeared on Falcon crest with CBS and several films such as Siter Act II. One fall afternoon, in her second year at the college, named on the Dean’s List, she was driving into the parking lot of the campus when a radio commercial commanded her attention. It turned out that National Broadcasting School was searching for a new voice to hit the Sacramento airwaves and was holding auditions at their Sacramento location. Connie decided she had nothing to lose, and auditioned with 350 other hopefuls. The instructors and Dean of National Broadcasting School were very impressed and asked her to come back to the finals. Several days later, she received the most exciting phone call of her life: She had won the fully paid scholarship to National Broadcasting School! At the age of 20, she was on her way to a brand new career, and moved from the Bay Area to Sacramento.

It was a very exciting time, to leave behind everyone and all she had known to start a new life of her own. She threw all of her energy into her newfound career, which she felt was tailor-made to showcase all of her writing and vocal talents. It was a dream of hers to be a radio broadcaster since the impressionable age of four.

Connie then did what others told her she could NEVER do, and that was work in a major market after graduation. All of her instructors warned her she would have to start small and work in a very small market before she could ever find her dream job. They were wrong. Connie became the first person in the history of National Broadcasting School to land a full-time on-air position in a major market three months before graduation. Moreover, she was the very first woman to be hired on air as a radio personality in the history of KXOA radio. She was also one of the first women ever to work full-time in this market as an announcer.

Connie worked in radio as a TV Newscaster (KXTV) and Radio Personality (KUIC,KXOA, KHYL, KATM) and produced more than 300 radio commercials during that time. She went off to work at The Sacramento Bee as their voice artist, and at KOVR-13 as their evening newswriter. To coincide with that, she was reposnsible for morning news announcing and work as an afternoon drive disc jockey at KHYL. It was a tremendous load for one person to carry, so when she discovered she was expecting a child, Connie went on maternity leave and never came back.

In 1994, Werner Synclair Public Relations was born right there along with her baby. For 10 years she focused on helping women-owned businesses succeed while also operating a resume company for women reentering the workforce, known as Resumes With Results.

In 1996, she competed with huge PR firms and earned a very prestigious award from the Sacramento Public Relations Association—first place in PR for Non-profit organizations.

In the year 2000, she reinvented herself yet again and opened Write Side Up Copywriting, Freelance Writing and Travel Journalism. Today, when she is not freelance writing for various publications such as Comstocks Business Magazine, Sierra Heritage magazine, Destinations magazine and Growing Wealth magazine, along with several web zines, she is jet-setting to exotic locales to help promote travel industries for various foreign countries and parts of the United States. Mainly, however, she focuses the bulk of her time on helping others achieve success through PR, marketing, writing and developing stellar web copy and e-mail marketing campaigns. Connie currently studies the works of copywriting greats Joe Sugarman, Bob Bly and Maria Veloso. To commemorate her 14th year in business, Connie is now a Master Web Copywriter.

Unlike many others in her field, Connie is the only female Adv/PR writer in Northern California with more than 20 years of first hand expertise in all forms of media—video, film, print, electronic and online.

Connie is also accepting clients in for her part-time endeavor as a Holistic Life Coach. She is a regular guest at speaking events through the world.

In the future, Connie plans on an increased amount of speaking engagements for a variety of copywriting and publicity topics. Connie’s goal is to continue to be one of the most sought-after copywriters and publicists in the world. And, to buy her own island...
