Introduction
Along with Monica Lewinsky, the film Titanic (Kate Winslet) and Ben Affleck’s acting career, Cindy Margolis is someone that will always be associated with the late 1990s. Not quite a supermodel and not quite an actress, she still made quite a career for herself.
Life Story
Cindy’s fame began with a class project at Cal State Northridge. She put a picture of herself in lingerie on greeting cards for a business course. Modeling agents took an interest upon seeing them, and she was soon featured in campaigns for Coors, Reebok, and Sunkist.
Her swimsuit pictures became a phenomenon in the early years of the internet. If you were a heterosexual male with a dial-up modem, odds are you had at least one of her pictures on your hard drive. Yahoo! Internet Life Magazine even bestowed the title of Queen of the Internet from 1996 through 1999 on her. Though not an Oscar or even a People’s Choice Award, it did help raise her profile. She also had a bit parts in Ally McBeal (Calista Flockhart, Lucy Liu), Joey (Drea De Matteo) and Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (Elizabeth Hurley). She even had her own talk show on CBS for a VERY brief time.
She is currently raising her children while working with the World Poker Tour as a spokesperson. More importantly, she also posed for Playboy. Though she turned down past offers the magazine made, she, now in her forties and a mother, agreed to do it in order to show older women and mothers that they can still be sexy. More political statements delivered in the form of nude pictorials are what’s needed in this world.
