- "Degrassi: The Next Generation" hit the air in 2001, ten years after its predecessor, "Degrassi Junior High" ended. It revolves around a large group of students who attend the fictional Degrassi Community School in Toronto. The series is noted for having a very realistic view of high school life, never sugar coating serious issues such as rape, homosexuality, school violence, religion, pregnancy, abortion, mental illness, bulimia, STDs, and more.
The show is filmed in Toronto and airs on CTV in Canada and The N in America. It is reportedly the most popular TV show in Canadian history.
