Camilla Belle is an actress best known for the lead role in 2006's When a Stranger Calls, and for becoming the face of Vera Wang's new fragrance, Princess, that same year. She has been in a slew of recent films, and credits her landing darker roles on the fact that she has dark eyebrows. Her ability to read eyebrows and see a person's future may lead to a back-up occupation should her acting career flag (perhaps she's the 21st century's Jackie Stallone...One can only hope).
Camilla Belle was born in Los Angeles, CA to Christina and Jack Routh. Christina designed fashion in her native Brazil, before relocating to America. Camilla was raised in some of Los Angeles' most posh private schools, including St. Paul's Catholic School and Marlborough High School. This gifted childhood lead to her playing classical piano, speaking several languages fluently, and becoming friends with international tennis sensation, Maria Sharapova.
Camilla played a host of small parts in movies (A Little Princess, Poison Ivy II, Secret of the Andes, Rip Girls) before garnering national attention. She played Daniel Day-Lewis' daughter in 2005's The Ballad of Jack and Rose, and then sent the internet chatrooms buzzing about her girl-on-girl action with Elisa Cuthbert in The Quiet. The following year, Camilla landed the lead in 2006's When a Stranger Calls. While this film certainly looks scary, it seems like a bit of an alarmist take on the telemarketing industry.
In the spring of 2006 the Warner Bros. film, 10,000 BC, a prehistoric epic directed by Roland Emmerich began production with Belle as the lead female role. Filmed in New Zealand, South Africa and Namibia, the film was released on March 7, 2008. Also in 2008, Belle starred alongside actors Chris Evans and Djimoun Hounsou in the 2008 thriller, Push. Recently, Camilla Belle was been cast in a lead role in actor Bruce Willis's directorial debut on the indie film, Three Stories About Joan. The psychological drama follows a young woman at three points in her life and the family tragedies that cause her to lose her grip on reality. Shooting was expected to start in early October in Shreveport, Louisiana as a production of Willis Brothers Films.
Recently Camilla appeared in the Jonas Brothers' music video for "Lovebug".
