Introduction
One of Hollywood’s hidden gems, under-the-radar actress Angelina Jolie is a former fashion model and current Goodwill Ambassador for the UN. She looks like a sexy puma. Voted #35 in the AskMen.com's Top 99 Women 2008 Edition.
Life Story
Born in Los Angeles to actors Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand, Angelina moved with her mother and brother to Palisades, New York, after her parents separated in 1976 (reportedly because her father was unfaithful). At 11, the family returned to LA, and Angelina enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. While a student at Beverly Hills High School, she began modeling, but also wearing a lot of black, dying her hair purple and cutting herself with razors. (But who didn’t go through that phase?)
After appearing in a few music videos for the likes of Meat Loaf, Lenny Kravitz and the Lemonheads, Angelina made her film debut in Cyborg 2, perfectly cast as a seductive robot. Other early films included Hackers (where she met first husband Jonny Lee Miller), Foxfire (where she took up a brief bisexual relationship with actress Jenny Shimizu), Playing God, George Wallace, Gia, Pushing Tin (where she met second husband Billy Bob Thornton) and Playing by Heart (Madeleine Stowe).
In 1999, Angelina gained worldwide attention when she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in that movie you never got around to seeing, Girl, Interrupted (Winona Ryder). From there, she became an international star via Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, picked up another cool $12 million for Lara Croft: The Cradle of Life, and became tabloid story number one when she took up a relationship with Brad Pitt during the filming of Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Kerry Washington, Michelle Monaghan). On May 27, 2006, Angelina gave birth to her—as well as Brad’s—first biological child, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt. “Brangelina” now have four children together: Shiloh, Maddox, Zahara, and, the latest acquisition, by way of Vietnam, Pax.
Looking ahead, expect to find Angelina raising money and awareness for her many humanitarian projects in troubled places like Cambodia, Pakistan and Arizona. According to WallStreetFighter, she is one of the 12 Highest Earning Hotties; so she is not short on cash.
On the movie front, she’ll star in the Clint Eastwood-directed The Changeling (Amy Ryan, Riki Lindhome). She’s also attached to play the lead in an adaptation of Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged. To which we respond with a…shrug.
