Introduction
If it weren’t for the fact that she can sing, Amerie would have to be a super hot model or something. Good thing she has those pipes.
Biography
Born into a military family, to an African American father and a Korean mother, she was raised all over the world. Her first language is Korean which she is still conversational in, but is no longer fluent because her mother made a conscious decision to only speak English around her and her sister so they could learn English faster. She attended Georgetown University and considers Washington, D.C. her hometown.
Her first big break came when she was featured on a song from the Nas album Stillamatic (2001). From there she released her own album entitled All I have (2002) which featured her single “Why Don’t we fall in Love.” She has released two more albums, Touch (2005) and Because I love it (2007). Her biggest hit to date was a single off the Touch album called “1 Thing” which was featured in the movie Hitch (Eva Mendes). “1 Thing” earned her the prestigious “Club Banger of the Year” award at the 2005 VIBE awards.
She also had a role in First Daughter (2004) a really bad Katie Holmes movie that should not be confused with the nearly identical Mandy Moore disaster, Chasing Liberty (2004).
