Introduction
Put actress Rene Zellwegger in a film, and there's a pretty good chance she'll get an Academy Award nomination. Or at least a Golden Globe.
Life Story
Before becoming one of the highest paid actress working today, Rene Zellwegger made ends meet in Katy Texas by working as a waitress in a strip club. She realized her dream of acting after being forced to take a drama class in college. Her early credits include a none speaking role in the ode to the 70's Dazed and Confused wich also featured a non-talking Milla Jovovich. She also starred in the direct-to-video horror film The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre with fellow up-and-coming actor Matthew McConaughey.
In 1995, Zellwegger co-starred in the Liv Tyler comedy Empire Records, but her big break would come in 1996, when she was cast in the film Jerry Maguire. The film went on to be a huge success and earned Zellwegger her first award from the Screen Actor's Guild. In 2001 she put on weight to play the plump star of Bridget Jones's Diary, for which she would receive her first Academy Award nomination. Two years later, in 2003, she recived another nomination for her role in the music Chicago with Catherine Zeta-Jones. The very next year, she finally took home an Oscar for her role in the Nicole Kidman drama Cold Mountain with Natalie Portman.
Most recently she appeared in the drama Cinderella Man, and in the animated film Bee Movie.
