Life Story
Lake Bell was born on March 24, 1979 in the tiny city of New York, New York, to Robin Bell and Harvey Siegel. Her brother owns a sliding wall and door company in New York City, even though the business is slipping since the market for sliding walls has plummeted in recent months. She attended Skidmore College after applying and not making the cut for the all-boys school, Skidmarks College. She then went on to study acting in London, before relocating to Los Angeles, California. Lake landed her first big job with the lead female role in NBC's "War Stories", also starring Jeff Goldblum.
She made two guest appearances on "ER" in 2002, then went on to play Alicia Silverstone's wisecracking best friend in NBC's short-lived series "Miss Match". As a reminder, Alicia Silverstone was the one who killed the original Batman franchise.
More TV roles continued for Lake, including her role on "The Practice" which turned into a regular gig on the equally lame "Boston Legal". She left that show to star in the sci-fi series "Surface", which was submerged in crappy writing and stupid premises, so it's a surprise it was cancelled. Her film work includes The Hillside Strangler (2004), I Love Your Work (2003), Speakeasy (2002), and Slammed (2001). She recently wrapped on her latest film, Pride and Glory (2007), which also stars Edward Norton and Colin Farrell, two actors begging for Hollywood to give them a second chance. She also has a leading role in the upcoming thriller Still Waters (2008), starring opposite Jason Clarke and Clifton Collins Jr. Currently single, suitors are lining up to take a dip in this Lake.
