Introduction
Kristen Bell is an American actress who is best known for her lead role on the CW (formerly UPN) show Veronica Mars. Thanks to Veronica Mars, Kristen Bell has won the hearts of the youth of America who have fallen in love with her girl-next door sweet disposition. She has popularized the "Geek Chic" girl. Pushing 30, she could pull off a teenager in her sleep, making millions of pedo-men want to play 'just the tip' with her.
Growing Up
Kristen Anne Bell was born July 18, 1980 in Huntington Woods, Michigan. She is the daughter of Tom Bell and Lorelei Bell. At the tender age of two Bell's parents divorced. Kristen has two stepsisters, Sara and Jody. Not liking her name at the age of four Kristen decided to change it to "Smurfette." Her mom was able to persuade her otherwise. Kristen would use her middle name, Annie, until high school.
At Shrine Catholic High School (where she was voted most attractive girl in the yearbook) she starred in many school productions; The Wizard of Oz, Fiddler on the Roof, Lady Be Good, and Li'l Abner.
After high school Kristen moved to New York and attended New York University's prestigous Tisch School of the Arts where she majored in musical theater.
Career
In 2001 Bell would leave NYU a few credits shy of graduation to take part in the short-lived Broadway production of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer as Becky Thatcher. Later in 2001 Bell received her first credited film debut in the cult-hit Pootie Tang (her line was cut from the film and can only be seen in the credits).
In 2003 Kristen Bell landed her most notable role as the teen super-sleuth Veronica Mars on UPN (now CW). The show garnered critical acclaim and a cult following (often compared with the long-lived Buffy series). However, poor viewership only allowed the show to go on for three seasons. Even as the lead on Veronica Mars Bell remained a relative unknown in young Hollywood. Not until her next major television role would she attract the deserved attention of the media. Bell, at first rumored to be in negotiations for a spot on the ABC hit Lost, was cast as Elle Bishop on NBC's break-out sensation, Heroes.
Kristen also took the part as narrator for the CW's Gossip Girl.
Kristen has two upcoming movies in 2008, Fanboys (with Jaime King) and Forgetting Sarah Marshall (with Mila Kunis).
