Jennifer Lopez, or J-Lo, is an actress, singer-songwriter, record producer, model, dancer, fashion designer and television producer. She is considered the most powerful Latino female in the entertainment industry, but you and your friends probably associate her with the image of a big beautiful posteriori, which is completely understandable as it helped launched her career. In 2003, Stuff magazine named her one of the hottest Latinas in show business, along with Shakira, Salma Hayek, Daisy Fuentes, Roselyn Sanchez, Penélope Cruz, Eva Mendes, Sofía Vergara, Lana Parrilla, Marieh Delfino, and Sissi.
Life Story
J-Lo made her television debut as a dancer for the show In Living Color in 1990. She then climbed her way to bigger roles in other television shows and music videos. But it was in 1997 when she was cast in the title role of Selena that J. Lo career caught on fire. In this movie J. Lo was able to show off her acting, dancing and singing skills (not to mention her rear end, which the camera focused on more than once) to the whole world. Soon everybody wanted a piece of the bootylicious triple threat. J. Lo appeared in many successful movies after Selena such as Out of Sight (1998), The Cell (2000), and your girlfriend’s favorite Maid in Manhattan (2002).
In 1999 J-Lo released her debut album On the 6 which went on to sell over seven million copies and have four commercial singles. She has released six albums since her debut that have collectively sold over twenty five million copies to date, making her one of the most successful Latino singers in the world.
J-Lo’s personal life has not been as successful as her professional life. She has had almost as many boyfriends and husbands as she has albums and movies. Her high profile relationship with Ben Affleck will probably follow her to the grave (Gigli anyone?) and let’s not forget the shoot out with Puffy. But as J. Lo has said in the past, she’s just a romantic at heart.
These days J. Lo is busy promoting her new album Brave, as well as her new movie, El Cantante, with her husband Marc Antony.
