Life Story
Born and raised in Houston, TX she and big sister Haylie began performing in local productions and eventually moved to Los Angeles with their mother to pursue acting professionally. After years of work in commercials and a few minor roles on TV, Hilary was cast as the title character in the show “Lizzie McGuire” which aired on the Disney Channel.
From there she went on to star in Agent Cody Banks (2003) opposite Frankie Muniz, remember him? She reprised the role that made her famous in The Lizzie McGuire Movie (2003) and continued to torture critics with the release of films like Cheaper by the Dozen (2004), Raise Your Voice (2004), Cheaper by the Dozen 2: Cheapest by the Dozen(2005) and Material Girls (2005).
In a desperate attempt to not be seen as a one dimensional, hugely successful actress, Hilary began releasing albums to showcase her singing. Her first studio album, Metamorphosis (2003), reached number 1.
She launched her own clothing line called Stuff by Duff which has since branched out and now includes furniture, fragrances, and jewelry.
Her personal life has received quite a bit of media attention. Whether it is her high profile relationships, her spats with other teen idols or the obnoxious veneers she calls teeth, she always seems to make headlines. In 2004 she had beef with Avril Lavigne and at one point she feuded with Lindsay Lohan over… wait for it, wait for it…Aaron Carter.
