Requesting Moderation
This page discusses the mechanisms to request a moderator's intervention on a particular article or piece of content.
General Instructions
Moderator Templates have been created to allow any user to request removal or call a particular piece of content to a Moderator's attention. These can be inserted into any article page by referencing the particular template using the template tags. Chickipedia Moderators regularly monitor requests and will respond as quickly as possible. The following guidelines outline how to request the removal of images or content, as well as the procedures for contesting a removal request.
Requesting Removal
For legal reasons, Chikipedia cannot host content that is in violation of copyright. The instructions below detail how to request their removal
- To Remove an Image: For images, edit the image page and add the {{Moderator.ImageRemoval|Reasons=text}} tag, where text should be the reasoning for the removal request, to the top of the image page.
- For other pages, edit the page and insert the Remove Request template {{Moderator.Removebyrequest|Reasons=text}}, where text should be the reasoning for the removal request, to request immediate removal by moderator. This should be placed at the top of the free text section. You should first check that there are no non-violating versions in the page history.
- Pages can be deleted without any discussion if they meet one of the criteria for speedy deletion. However, in general the Talk page should be used to discuss the deletion prior to actual removal.
Contesting a Removal Request
- Anyone except a page's creator may contest the deletion of a page by removing the deletion notice from the page. If a page you created is tagged for deletion, you may add the {{Moderator.Hangon|Reasons=text}} tag, where text should be the reasoning for delaying the delete. You should then either improve the page or further explain your reasoning on the relevant talk page. The tag exists to give you some extra time; the page may still be deleted if a moderator believes it meets the deletion criteria. If a page has been speedily deleted and there is disagreement over whether or not it should have been, this is discussed at deletion review, which should take place on the Talk page.
- Obtaining rights: If your content has been requested for removal due to copyright violation, try to contact the authors of the text or image and see if they are willing to release their work (1) under the GFDL, or (2) into the public domain. Permission to use a work "on Chickipedia only" or "for non-commercial use only" isn't enough, as it is incompatible with our license.
- Renominations: Once the proposed deletion of a page has been objected to by anyone, it may not be proposed for deletion again. If an editor still feels the page ought to be deleted, a deletion discussion should be used on the relevant talk page. It is disruptive to persist in recreating removed, copyrighted content.
Housekeeping
The Housekeeping tag can be used when someone's content or image violates Chickipedia guidelines. An editor can add the Housekeeping template tag {{Moderator.Housekeeping}} to alert a moderator of such violations. An example of this would be if someone is trying to promote or solicit something.
Stay On Topic
An editor who believes a page is straying off topic can add the Stayontopic template tag {{Moderator.Stayontopic}} to alert a moderator that this page is straying off topic, as well as warn the author to stay on topic. The editor can then modify the text to remove the offending sections and proceed to remove this tag.
