Introduction

Many child-stars crash and burn, but few have rebounded like Drew Barrymore. Born into Hollywood royalty, by the time she was eight she had starred in a half dozen movies, been nominated for a golden globe and hosted Saturday Night Live. It only follows that she was drinking by nine, rolling doobies by ten and doing nose dives by 13.

Life story

As the granddaughter of the great John Barrymore, Hollywood connections were never a problem for Drew. Her godfather is Stephen Spielberg and her godmother is Sophia Loren. She made her big screen debut in Altered States, a movie about a dude who does so much acid he regresses into the missing link. Next she played “Gertie” in E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial, which was the highest grossing movie of all time for about 10 years. She went on to star in Fire Starter, Irreconcilable Differences and Babes in Toyland then she hit the bottle.

Comeback

She was in and out of rehab twice by the time she was 14 and her fall from grace was one of the most publicized in recent memory. Then she used her giant breasts to stage a comeback, playing a teenage seductress in the film Poison Ivy and then again for a pictorial in Playboy. She had her breasts reduced to a 34C then about four years and five really bad movies later she appeared in Scream (Neve Campbell, Rose McGowen) and her career was back on track.

Film Producer

She formed her own production company called Flower Films and has put together a string of hit movies including Charlie’s Angels (Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu) Donnie Darko (Maggie Gyllenhaal), Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle(Demi Moore) and Fever Pitch (Ione Skye) as well as the upcoming He’s Just Not That Into You (Ginnifer Goodwin, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Connelly).
