Life Story
Born in New London, Connecticut, raised in Glastonbury, Connecticut, where she participated in theater as a teenager. She majored in comparative religion at Harvard University and co-founded the Cornerstone Theater Company while a student there.
Career
She compared the religions of the world and decided America's fascination with celebrity was the one for her. So off she went to become a real actress. In her first major television role, she played officer 'Janice Licalsi' on NYPD Blue. Her work earned her an Emmy Award nomination. After she left the show she appeared in a bunch of movies with one word titles, like Casper (Christina Ricci), Heat, Fear, Daylight, and Nevada.
Return to Television
She had a four episode story arc on "Frasier" then had her own show "Judging Amy" which she created and wrote that ran for six seasons. She can currently be found on the "Grey's Anatomy"(Katherine Heigl) spinoff, "Private Practice".
